Post-Exposure Prophylaxis

PEP is medication that people take after they have been exposed to HIV that prevents them from being infected with HIV. PEP is most effective when it is taken within 72 hours (3 days) after exposure. It is important to reach out to a healthcare provider if someone has been exposed to HIV as soon as possible.
